Electricity meters can be classified as either domestic or industrial type meters, depending on their technical design and/or maximum currents. Depending on national MID implementation this could mean no legal control on these measuring instruments for re-charging electric cars. Yet, for direct sales to the public in other fields of metrology, stringent requirements apply (Fuel Dispensers, MI-005, +/- 0.5%).
Is this potential legal inequality acceptable or should a harmonised philosophy apply to all similar types of applications?
